Feminist and civil movements in Lebanon are currently striving to counter the amendments made by a parliamentary committee on the law project regarding the protection of women against domestic violence. The changes proposed by the MPs assign the authority over domestic violence cases to religious law institutions, remove marital rape as a form of domestic violence, and widen the law to protect “all members of the family”, failing to acknowledge the fact that women are by far the most affected.
